ELSIE THATCHWICK by SKYE LOURIE - COMING SOON

What d’ye wannae go tae England for? It’s full o’ English people” “To find my Da ya fanny.”

It's 1997, Diana is dead and now too, is Elsie's nan, but she's just found out her Da might not be. HOW HAS NO ONE EVER THOUGHT TO MENTION THIS BEFORE? Armed only with an address and a pack of jammy dodgers Elsie sets out on an epic journey to find the man that gave her life! But the question is, how’s she gonnae get to *spit* ENGLAND? First she tries her English teacher Mr Gibby, but he’s not left Scotland since 1987. Not a lot of help. How about her best friend Iona? She just wants to smoke some fags and get dizzy on the swings. And maybe Danny the jakey is right, maybe there’s a reason her maw does’nae want her to meet him. Undeterred she boards the mega bus. About eight hours and twenty bampots later she’s finally there. She’s made it. But he is’nae the hero she’d imagined.. not the too cool for school rock star, poet that did’nae have time for her. He’s a small man in a big wheelchair and he cannae speak. Turns out Elsie’s adventure has only just started. Getting to Manchester is small fry compared to getting to know and care for her severely disabled Dad.
